Middlebrook family papers, 1782-1929.

Correspondence, legal and financial papers and estate records of several generations of a Trumbull, Connecticut, family. John Middlebrook is represented by records of his estate settlement, 1782. Dr. Stephen Middlebrook received letters from his brother Theophilus in Ferrisburgh, New York, David Daggett, Edmund and Joseph Curtis, Issac Mitchell and John Haines which seem to relate to land investments in New York State. His papers also include an account book, 1772-1819, and several deeds and other legal papers. Robert Middlebrook, Jr., received part of his mother's interest in his father's estate, 1807. Robert's papers include legal and financial records, estate papers, and memorandum books of trips to New York City on board various vessels. Robert's wife Nancy Burton Middlebrook received letters from family members, friends, and her son Louis N. Middlebrook. The elder Stephen Middlebrook is represented by an account book, 1754-1794 documenting his farming activities. The later documents are notes gathered on the history of the Middlebrook family. Two seemingly unrelated letters were written by John Haines to Roger Minott Sherman.
